METHOD

  1. preheat oven to 180°c/160°c fan forced. grease 2, 12-hole (1/3 cup/80ml) muffin pans.
  2. using an electric beater, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. add egg and vanilla, beating well. add flour and milk, beat on low speed until just combined.
  3. divide mixture between prepared pans and bake 12-14 minutes or until golden. cool.
  4. meanwhile, to make icing, combine icing sugar, extra butter, water and a few drops of red food colouring in a medium bowl; stir until smooth.
  5. spread icing over the rounded side of each cake. use NESTLÉ dark melts to define the wings, create the head and other parts of the beetle. use NESTLÉ white choc bits to create spots on the beetle and use silver cachous for the eyes. allow to set before serving.
