Macaroni Cheese

Recipe Ingredients

(Serves 4)

  • 250g macaroni
  • 2 tsp oil
  • 1 medium (150g) onion, chopped
  • 4 slices (80g) ham, chopped
  • 1 tbsp cornflour
  • 375mL can CARNATION Light & Creamy Cooking Milk
  • 1/2 cup (125mL) water
  • 1 cup (120g) grated cheddar cheese
  • 2 small (180g) tomatoes, sliced
  • 1/2 cup (35g) wholemeal breadcrumbs

How to make

1. Cook pasta according to directions on pack. Drain and keep warm.

2. Heat oil in a medium frying pan over medium heat; add onion, cook 2 minutes. Add ham, cook 1 minute.

3. Blend cornflour with 2 tablespoons CARNATION Light & Creamy Cooking Milk; add to pan with remaining milk and water; bring to the boil, stirring constantly, until thick and creamy.

4. Add half the cheese and pasta; toss well.

5. Spoon into a shallow ovenproof dish or four individual dishes. Top with tomato, breadcrumbs and remaining cheese. Place under a hot grill and cook until golden. Serve immediately.
